Barrett's Esophagus and Adenocarcinoma
Purpose
This program has been developed to keep gastroenterologists and other healthcare providers abreast of current literature and new developments regarding early detection of Barrett's esophagus.


 
Program Overview
Barrett's esophagus is a premalignant lesion of esophageal adenocarcinoma, and the incidence of esophageal adenocarcinoma is on the rise. Early detection improves survival from this cancer.


 
Audience
This program has been developed to update and educate gastroenterologists and primary care physicians who provide care for people with gastrointestinal conditions.


 
Learning Objectives
Following completion of this CME activity, participants should be better able to:
  • Identify the risk factors for developing Barrett's esophagus.
  • Understand the various diagnostic procedures for Barrett's esophagus.
  • Understand and use the current guidelines for the surveillance of Barrett's esophagus.
  • Relate the development of adenocarcinoma to Barrett's esophagus.
